Kathryn Bosher Memorial Graduate Fund in Classics
This month should have seen the 50th birthday of Kathryn Bosher, a UofT alumna and brilliant classicist, who lost her life to cancer 12 years ago. Her widower, LaDale Winling, helped set up a fund in her name to support the work of young Classicists, and many people gave generously to it. To date, it is has been used to augment funding packages and help with research expenses for 11 students on our PhD program, including four current students.
We continue to miss Kathryn, and to be enormously grateful to LaDale and all those who have contributed so generously to the Bosher Fund. That is especially true now, when our students are affected more than ever by the cost of living crisis, and it is a top Departmental priority to improve their funding packages . We need to ensure that we can continue to recruit the very best people to our programs, and make it possible for them to focus more on their work than their finances while they are in Toronto.
If you would like to remember Kathryn and continue her legacy by supporting the next generation of Classical Scholarship at Toronto, please consider making your own donation to the fund: you can do so here!
