We are delighted to announce that Dr Wim Nijs (currently working in Leuven, Belgium) has won a prestigious Banting Postdoctoral Fellowship, and will join the Department of Classics for two years in the fall. He will be working on the Epicurean philosopher Philodemus, especially his thoughts on flattery, a subject to which Philodemus devoted a book of his work On Virtues and Vices.
