Bio and Research
Jake Sawyer is a PhD student in the Classics Department at the University of Toronto. He received his M.A. in Greek from the University of Colorado Boulder (2020) and his B.A. in Classics from Macalester College (2018). Some of his areas of interest include Greek poetry during the Roman Empire (especially Nonnus of Panopolis), Hellenistic tragedy, and critical theory. He has previously worked on topics such as colonization in tragedy, aesthetic theory and the avant-garde, 20th century reception of the Classics, and literary Papyrology. Outside of Classics, Jake most enjoys playing the drums, a good croque madame, and running.
