Bio and Research
I am a PhD student in Classics, with a focus in Greek and Latin literature. I received my B.A. from the University of Toronto (2021), majoring in Classics and Classical Civilizations. I intend to pursue research regarding the role of animals as agents and characters in ancient Greek and Latin literature, influenced by animal studies theory. Sentience, personhood, and interspecies connections are topics of particular interest to me. I am also interested in systems of ancient gender and sexuality, and the ways in which discussions of gender and sex intersect with those surrounding animality. My research will attempt to detangle such overlapping power structures to uncover hidden verbal and non verbal voices within ancient texts.
