Latin Sight Exam

Students in the “qualifying year” of the Classics graduate programs (last year of MA or first year of PhD) are expected to write the Sight Translation examinations every time they are offered, until they have achieved the passing grade for the program they are in. The passing grade is B– for MA, B+ for PhD.

Students in the first year of a two-session MA program are encouraged to attempt these examinations.
